National Sites Quarters Silver Bullion Coins

The authorizing legislation for the National Sites Quarters program provides for the production and issuance of special over-sized silver bullion coins. This would be a fairly unique product in the history of the United States Mint. Until now, they have only offered one ounce silver bullion coins under the American Eagle program.

The National Sites Quarter Silver Bullion coins would contain 5 ounces of .999 fine silver. The coins would be struck with a diameter of 3 inches and include incuse edge lettering denoting the fineness and weight of the coin. The coins would be exact duplicates of the quarters, including the denomination inscription “quarter dollar.”

The silver bullion coins would be made available no sooner than the first day of the calendar year of the National Sites Quarter’s release. They would only be available for sale during the calendar year of issue.

The coins would be offered as bullion products through the US Mint’s network of authorized bullion dealers. The National Park Service would also be provided with the opportunity to purchase the silver bullion coins in quantity for resale to the public.
